PID4NFDI warmly invites you to join our focus groups on the integration of Persistent Identifiers (PIDs) within Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELNs). More general information on the focus roups can be found on the dedicated subpage Focus Groups.

The second meeting of the focus group took place on July 2, 2025. In the meeting, Sara El-Gebali, Metadata Specialist at DataCite, gave a presentation on the background to the implementation of PIDs in ELNs. The participants were then invited to engage in an open discussion and a question-and-answer session. The following questions were posed during this session: *How does PID metadata (e.g., DOIs, ORCIDs, IGSNs) flow into or out of your tool? Please describe your current or desired data lineage for PID metadata. *How would you characterize an entry in your system? Would you call it an ELN entry, a collection, a project, a report, or something else?

Sara slides and the meeting notes can be found here:

The next meeting will take place on August 14, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. If you would like to join, please contact Antonia Schrader at antonia.schrader@os.helmholtz.de for access details.

We truly appreciate your ongoing engagement in the focus groups. Your contributions are essential, and we hope these collective efforts will lead to both knowledge sharing and tangible, community-driven outputs. If you have any questions or require further information, please feel free to contact us via pid4nfdi@lists.nfdi.de.

Also please feel free to give us feedback on whether these meetings are helpful to you and how we can improve via the this questionnaire. Every participant is invited to complete the survey, regardless of whether you attended the first or second meeting or just one of the meetings.
